REACHING OUT TO JUVENILES
ABIM Penang Social Advocacy Bureau bro Omar Mokhtar gives a tadhkirah – pep talk to young residents of Asrama Akhlak Paya Terubong, a rehabilitation centre. IOA sponsored iftar – breaking of fast, and held tarawih prayers at the centre. Members of the deaf community also attended.

TRAINING VOLUNTEERS
With 8 trainee students from Madrasah Muallimin Muhammadiyah Jogjakarta at IOA Lebuh Acheh who volunteered and helped prepare n distribute ‘Sahur’ food packs to the homeless in the centre of Georgetown.
THE second caliph of the Khulafa’ al-Rasyidin rule, Umar al-Khattab, once said, “Teach your children with contemporary knowledge, for they are born in an era which is different from yours.
” These wise words of one of the closest companions of the Prophet of Islam stressed on the importance to prepare the next generation with ample knowledge to face the challenges of the future.

Learning to recite the Qur’an by the Iqra method at IOA Lebuh Acheh on Sunday
- ‘Alif-Lãm-Ra. ˹This is˺ a Book which We have revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ so that you may lead people out of darkness and into light, by the Will of their Lord, to the Path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy’ (Surah Ibrahim:1)
- Sis Asiah teaching Qur’an reciting for beginners Sundays at Outreach. ‘Verily the one who recites the Qur’an beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. He quoted a verse from the Qur’an 21:107: ‘O Muhammad, We have not sent you but as a blessing for all the worlds.’

- On Apr 15, 2018 Bro Hamdan Kepala Batas gave a Ramadan quiz to the deaf and mute patrons with promises of prizes for the most number of correct answers.

Activities

- The rich heritage and historical Masjid Melayu Lebuh Acheh with its iconic and distinct minaret is a favourite tourist spot and the vicinity for Islamic Outreach-ABIM. ‘O Children of Adam! Put on your adornment (decent proper dress) when you attend your Masjid at the time of every prayer. - Received ‘kuih raya’ gift or ‘Eid cookies from Razman Tan and Sidek from the Penang Deaf Association. IOA and the PDA have been very close working together through the years. May Allah bless, guide and reward the marvellous people of the deaf community
- Alhamdulillah..Received donation from USM’s Engineering Campus Islamic Centre for IOA’s Ramadan Appeal. May Allah swt shower His Blessings and reward the wonderful people at USM.
- Bro Muhammad Izhar Izhar from the Muslim Youth Movement ABIM working hard packing contributions for the needy from the deaf community. ABIM Penang runs Rice for the Needy (Sekampit Beras) program every Ramadan as charity for the less fortunate among us.
